The Old and the New

She wants to escape the familiar
And accept a stranger's hand
Where he'll lead her blindfolded
To a never-before-seen land

All the morsels sampled there
exotic and obscure
And timid creatures materialise
Drawn by her allure

While all her abandoned senses
Return like the fold at twilight
And bitter memories are hastily snuffed
Locked, cast away, dead and finite

Alas, this wonder wonder
Will too one day become
A lacklustre mosaic
Well-studied and humdrum
